According to the affidavit for probable cause, a woman told police she had met 42-year-old Christopher Serrano at the Hampton Inn in Old Bridge where Serrano "became disturbed," and accused her of talking to another man.
Serrano, of Manalapan, himself called 9-1-1 around 2 a.m. Sunday, March, 3, and told dispatch he was being threatened by other people, police paperwork says.
Soon after Serrano called 9-1-1, he became even more irritated, got scissors from his bag, and began threatening the victim, police paperwork details.
Serrano then placed his forearm around the woman's neck and the scissors on her throat. The victim said when he heard police at the door, he began stabbing her with the sharp part of the scissors and continued doing so as the officers entered the room.
That’s when police shot Serrano, who was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital with undisclosed injuries.
The victim was taken to RWJ with multiple stab wounds around her neck, head, and arm area, police said. She was treated for her injuries and is expected to make a full recovery, the prosecutor's office said previously
Serrano was charged with first-degree attempted murder and weapons offenses, the prosecutor said.
